Unlike any past installment, the 2025 gallery will showcase a diverse array of artistic mediums, expanding beyond the traditional canvas. With its theme “In Southern Dimension,” this year’s Artport celebrates Shreveport’s vibrant cultural heritage, offering visitors and travelers alike a dynamic journey through the city’s iconic music and sports scene, unique festivals, flavorful cuisine, proud military history, renowned landmarks, and abundant landscape and wildlife. Each carefully curated element promises to captivate, providing a fresh perspective on Shreveport’s storied history and boundless creativity into the future.
At the heart of the community, Artport’s Opening Night Silent Auction has raised over $135,000 for various non-profit organizations since its inception. For the 2025 installment, the selected non-profit organization to benefit from the auction will be announced soon, continuing Artport’s tradition of giving back to the community.
Opening Night of Artport is the ultimate celebration of creativity and community, offering an immersive experience filled with captivating art, live entertainment, and a vibrant atmosphere. Guests can participate in the exciting silent auction, view the display of artwork from the installment, go on concourse tours to explore mural, sculpture and large format installations, and even purchase print reproductions from select artists, making it a night to remember for all art and Shreveport enthusiasts alike.
Traditional Format Canvas
The traditional format canvas installation is the cornerstone of Artport, representing the medium that has been a hallmark of the event since its inception. As the largest category in this installment, one concourse will feature works that celebrate Shreveport’s iconic music and sports history. The other concourse will feature art that captures the area’s landscapes and wildlife. Traditional canvas works will be displayed on the lower level on Opening Night, but will be installed in the locations depicted in the map following the reception. This artwork will also be viewed via video compilation on the first floor level.
Large Format Canvas
A new addition to Artport, the large format installations elevates the traditional canvas to a new, dimensional level, creating a dynamic visual experience. Running parallel to the bridge murals, these expansive canvases will offer immersive, dimensional depictions of Shreveport’s proud military heritage with the presence of Barksdale Air Force Base, as well as beloved local celebrations and festivals. Large format canvas works can be viewed on Opening Night through periodic guided tours that will be offered throughout the duration of the event. This artwork will also be viewed via video compilation on the first floor level.
Murals
The mural installations, a new addition to Artport, transforms Shreveport’s iconic landmarks into an immersive experience. Running parallel to the large format canvases on each bridge, these murals will vividly capture the iconic spots and characters of Shreveport’s rich history. Visitors can view these mural works on Opening Night through periodic guided tours offered throughout the event. This artwork will also be viewed via video compilation on the first floor level.
Sculptures
The sculpture installation, a medium featured once before in a past Artport installation, will be displayed museum-style down the middle of each bridge, showcasing works that fully embody the theme. These sculptures offer a three-dimensional exploration of the installation’s theme, the sculpture works will bring a tangible depth that canvas and mural artworks cannot, making art imitate life. Visitors can view sculpture works on Opening Night through periodic guided tours offered throughout the event. This artwork will also be viewed via video compilation on the first floor level.
Digital Media
The digital media installation, also new to Artport, will be displayed at the end of each bridge, introducing the digital age to the installation. This art will feature depictions that are all-encompassing of the In Southern Dimension theme from Shreveport’s music and sports history to landscape and wildlife, cuisine, landmarks and festivals, and Barksdale Air Force Base. Visitors can view digital media works on Opening Night through periodic guided tours offered throughout the event. This artwork will also be viewed via video compilation on the first floor level.
