Elizabeth Cliburn
Elizabeth ‘Bitsy’ Cliburn is a graduate of Baylor University where she studied Fashion Design and received a degree in Family and Consumer Science Education. She recently retired from teaching at Haughton High School where she taught for 22 years. She has lived in the Shreveport area since 1991, and currently resides in Greenwood, Louisiana with her husband, Joe, and their many rescue dogs.
Elizabeth has had a lifelong interest in art, and is now enjoying an early retirement and the time it affords to dedicate to painting. Her paintings incorporate traditional subjects like landscapes, people and pets, but are not bound to photorealism. Bitsy often memorializes beloved pets for their pet parents. Her favorite compositional device utilizes the Rückenfigur style, which involves painting a figure from the back who is contemplating the view ahead of them. She particularly enjoys painting Rückenfigur wedding portraits.
