Bill Usher
Bill Usher’s sculptures are a personal exploration of organic abstraction, drawing inspiration from the natural world. His work reflects the similarities found across living forms—plants, sea life, the human figure, and animals—melding these influences into fluid, dynamic compositions.
A graduate of Louisiana Tech University with a BFA in Sculpture, Bill currently produces work from his studio in Baton Rouge. Over the past year, his sculptures have gained notable recognition, including commissioned pieces placed in a Beverly Hills collection and aboard a Mediterranean cruise ship’s art collection.
After years of working with wood, brass, and resin, Bill discovered a passion for marble at the Magic of Marble Festival in Sylacauga, Alabama. This transformative experience introduced him to the process of sculpting local marble in an open-air setting, igniting a love for the medium. Since 2022, he has carved ten marble sculptures, selling seven, and credits this experience with opening doors to gallery representation.
Beyond sculpture, Bill’s extensive background in materials and fabrication allows him to offer clients more than just finished works of art. He has honed his expertise in wood carving, mold-making, resin casting, metal fabrication, and ornamental ironwork—skills acquired through years of working in custom furniture, lighting design, and architectural detailing. Using AutoCAD, he collaborates on the design and fabrication of ornamental ironwork, stair rails, entry doors, and drive gates for some of the most distinguished residences in the country.
Though versatile in his craftsmanship, Bill’s heart remains with marble, a medium that continues to challenge and inspire him as he pushes the boundaries of form and material.
