Christine Bailey

Bailey, Christine

Christine Bailey is a long-time resident of the Shreveport-Bossier City area and a passionate artist drawn to large-scale watercolor and acrylic abstracts. She finds great joy in expressing emotions and ideas through color.

Her journey into the art world began after her husband inherited the extensive collection of his aunt, Gwen Norsworthy, former director of SPAR and the Barnwell Art Center. This led them to establish the Norsworthy Fine Art Gallery in Downtown Shreveport, introducing an upscale venue for local, national, and international artists.

Inspired by the creative energy around her, Christine pursued her own artistic path, studying under nationally recognized artist Jerry Wray and taking courses at Bossier Parish Community College, as well as workshops at the Barnwell Art Center and Norsworthy Gallery. She has also honed her skills through countless hours in her studio, both independently and alongside fellow artists as a member of the Hoover Watercolor Society, Louisiana Artists, Inc., and Shreveport Art Club.

Christine’s work has been exhibited at the Barnwell and is currently on display at the Norsworthy Gallery and the downtown Shreveport branch of Chase Bank. Though she wishes she had started her artistic journey earlier, she treasures the ability to express herself through color, bringing her thoughts and emotions to life on canvas.
